Insight suggests

Disadvantages Of “FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT”.

  1. Can’t keep up with the fake Lifestyle

This is sad but most times people who “Fake It” have to tell lies or spend a huge sum of money just to keep up with the lifestyle, so they don’t appear as liars or insincere people. They run into debt most times because they have to borrow money and are embarrassed. This is not a pleasant situation to be in at all.

  1. Your Helpers may evade you

Because they pretend to be who they are not, a lot of opportunities pass them because people assume they have it all and don’t need help. The people who are “Faking It” can’t say they need help because they would have to finish what they started. Most times they would watch opportunities walk away before their very eyes and will not be able to do anything about it. They might laugh on the outside but within they are hurt as they watch other people who are more sincere grab the offer.

  1. Destroy Your Public Image

Due to their lack of sincerity and inability to defend their supposed status, people won’t trust them when the whole truth finally spills out. They say a Good name is better than Riches. Their reputation will be tarnished and many will miss opportunities since no one would want to work with someone who is not trustworthy.

  1. Not finding Your real self

As a result of “Faking it” some people will not come to realize who they truly are. They can pretend to be someone else and won’t focus on the abilities that God has deposited in them. They won’t pay attention to “Process” which is one of the most important things in a person’s life. Process trims break and prepare a person for their dream or destiny. Along the process, you develop some skills, characters, and values that are very important in defining who you are. As a result of skipping all this and going ahead to borrow money and “Fake” some other things about their background and themselves, they will lack some skills that are important in going through life, which oftentimes leads to regret and frustration.

  1. Approval from people

Most people who live fake life end up spending and building their lives based on what people think about them. This is a red flag cause you’re opening yourself up to depression and criticism. People will surely criticize you and are never satisfied with how you live your life. And You could end up bringing much harm to yourself to please people and keep up with the lifestyle.

Personal View

“Fake it till You Make It” if applied well would do more good than harm to Your life. There are two sides to it, the positive and negative side. Use the positive side to Your advantage like using it as a source of motivation and keeping yourself on track with Your goal is awesome.  Don’t use it as means to show off and change certain things about yourself like your family. That is unacceptable. Some people go as far as using it to oppress others, that’s a capitalized NO. What if you have a change of plan and things turn out better, then people who You’ve already told you something else ask you. They won’t be pleased to find out that you lied to them, and this sure doesn’t look good. And come to think of it, the pain of having to lie about everything is not palatable.
