Zodiac Signs and Nigerians: Cruise or Insanity?

Astrologers have taken it upon themselves to study the stars and other celestial elements (that’s their job anyway).

This helps them gain insights into what they believe explains the character, personality, and temperament of people. They are also able to draw predictions.

Now, some believe that astrology doesn’t work, and others believe so much in the power and predictions of astrologers.

But welcome to Nigeria, the land of extremists. I’m not saying these signs and their predictions are wrong o, but honestly, I think what makes it seem like its predictions are working, has more to do with the belief than the work itself.

What I mean is that if you believe in the readings and predictions of zodiac signs, you’d see them play out in your life and around you.

Let’s begin with the elements of the zodiac signs, so we can fully understand the points I’m trying to make.

Elements of the Zodiac signs

According to Astrologers, there are four elements of zodiac signs, they are;

Fire
Earth
Air
Water

If you have seen the movie “Avatar: The air bender” you will be familiar with these elements.

These elements represent an essential type of energy each of us emits. They also help describe the unique personality types associated with astrological signs.

It is believed that they have a huge influence on the basic character traits, emotions, thought level, and behavior of humans.

Zodiac Signs and Their Dates

You might be wondering how you could figure out your zodiac sign. You can do that using your date of birth. The calendar has been segmented into 12, which leaves us with 12 zodiac signs.

Below are the 12 zodiac signs:

Aquarius: January 20 – February 18
Pisces: February 19 – March 20
Aries: March 21 – April 19
Taurus: April 20 – May 20
Gemini: May 21 – June 20
Cancer: June 21 – July 22
Leo: July 23 – August 22
Virgo: August 23 – September 22
Libra: September 23 – October 22
Scorpio: October 23 – November 21
Sagittarius: November 22 – December 21
Capricorn: December 22- January 19

Each of these zodiac signs falls into one of the zodiac elements.

Fire: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.
Earth: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.
Air: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius.
Water: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.

Is Zodiac Sign a Cruise?

I’m going to be as sincere and transparent as possible so we can do this together. Let’s use ME as a case study.

Birth date: 13th September

Zodiac sign: Virgo

Zodiac Element: Earth.

Let’s see what my zodiac element says of me first, then we’d do the same for my zodiac sign.

After this, I’d sincerely confirm where it is correct…then we can analyze the information together.

Earth

Conservative
Realistic
Extremely emotional
Stable
Loyal
Supportive, and stick to their friends through thick and thin.

Virgo

Apparently, there is a whole lot to say about the Virgo zodiac sign. Virgos pay attention to the tiniest detail and are usually extremely careful.

They ensure that nothing is left to chance, and this makes them very good at planning and organization. They have a well-developed sense of speech and writing and are generally good at communication.

A Virgo tends to invest so much in their relationship so, they’d rather havee a stable relationship than do “casual- time wasting-no-direction” relationships.

Weaknesses

Shyness, worry, highly critical, all work and no play.

Likes

Animals, healthy food, books, nature, and cleanliness.

Dislikes

Arrogance, being at the forefront, soliciting help, etc.

Now, we have a little information about Virgo, let’s analyze and see if this is just cruise or accurate.

Zodiac Element Analysis

I’d just go straight into pointing out what makes the list.

Extremely emotional
Stable, even though being stable and extremely emotional seem like opposite character.
Loyal
Supportive. I’ve gotten compliments on this quite several times.

The Virgo zodiac sign

I pay attention to details, and I’m extremely careful.
Everything in that paragraph ticks.

Zodiac sign strengths

Uhmmm… yeah! The strengths tick for me too.

Zodiac sign weaknesses

Shyness, worry, and highly critical ticks for me but, all work and no play? That’s so not me. Sometimes, I worry that I play a lot (LOL).

Finally! One thing that doesn’t tick.

Zodiac sign likes

I certainly do not like animals. I don’t hate them either, but I don’t do pets.

Healthy food… this one should be for the human race. I mean…who doesn’t like healthy meals?

Books, nature, and cleanliness ticks also.

Zodiac sign dislikes

I am easily irritated by arrogance, I am quite independent because I do not like to ask for help. It’s not a good trait honestly, but most times I just try to figure things out, on my own.

I think it’s the shyness that makes me run away from being in the spotlight…but I’ve worked on this. I do not lie back due to shyness anymore.

Based on the analysis so far, I think we have a pass mark of 85%. That’s a high one. I think it’s safe to agree that astrologers are not entirely wrong about their findings and predictions.

Honestly, I went on with the analysis hoping that they’d be more wrong than right. (Chuckles)

Conclusion

Over time, I’ve heard Nigerians behave in a certain way (sometimes good, but most times bad), and attribute it to their zodiac sign or temperament.

I see and agree now that there are tendencies but, more than that I still believe that it is our belief that structures these things and make them our reality.

You can be anything you want. You can behave in an absolutely beautiful way without all the terrible characters popping up.

If for a fact, you have some of the weaknesses your zodiac sign says you have, there’s room for change. There are chances that you can act and be better.

Do not stop improving yourself. Do not stop working on becoming a better person, hiding under the delusion that you were born that way, and it’s not your fault.

Work on your mind, read books, engage in quality conversations, and be open to constructive criticism…all these are forces coming together to help make you a better person…and isn’t that who you want to be?

After all said and done, Zodiac signs in themselves are not cruise, nor insanity. How Nigerians interpret them, is where the insanity lies.
