It is so disheartening to hear that you look older than your age. Many Nigerians suffer from this comment. The question is, can you reverse the ageing process? To an extent, you can, with some of the anti-ageing tips I will provide in this article.

Ageing is an inevitable process in the life of humans. After all, we are mortal beings. A common sign associated with ageing in men and women in Nigeria is wrinkles. Your face could be getting older due to some things you are putting yourself through. You can prevent ageing from occurring too early in your life by taking good care of your skin and using some other natural techniques that may apply to you.

7 Powerful Anti-Ageing Tips for Nigerians

Are your friends already complaining about your wrinkles? Are you tired of receiving comments like, “you look old?” These anti-ageing tips will help prevent ageing, reverse the ageing process and reduce wrinkles.

  1. Good sleeping pattern

When you get adequate sleep, your body cells repair themselves and produce fresh cells. Without adequate sleep, your skin experiences stress and hastens to age. Do you know that getting enough sleep reduces cortisol levels? Low cortisol levels enable the skin to regenerate and protect itself. You need about 6 hours of night rest every day to prevent ageing.

  1. Drink enough water

This is a very important anti-ageing tip. Water is essential for the body to function properly. It keeps the skin healthy and reduces wrinkles by helping to maintain your skin’s elasticity. It tells on the skin if you don’t drink enough water. You can reverse the ageing process by taking enough water daily. Take at least 2-3 litres of water daily for a healthy body system.

  1. Stop unhealthy lifestyles

Engaging in things like smoking, drinking, and overworking, fall under unhealthy lifestyles. In excess, they are detrimental to your health. Drinking leads to dehydration of the skin and damages the skin cells. Overworking stresses and irritates the skin, leading to damaged skin cells. To keep healthy and glowing skin, stop these unhealthy behaviours.

  1. Healthy diet

This is one of the anti-ageing tips that is a Must. Food plays a big role in healthy living. You eat well, then you can have glowing skin. It’s not just about eating, you must eat the right food. Fruits, legumes, and vegetables are perfect for the skin.

In the early days, Nigerian villages had healthy and young-looking adult men and women. Research has confirmed that the kinds of food they consumed gave them the young look and prevented ageing. This is to tell you that a well-balanced meal is a way to prevent ageing or reverse the ageing process.

Avocados, papaya, sweet potatoes, nuts, and spinach, are food items to add to your diet. This is because they are rich in vitamin C and are advisable because it aids the production of collagen in the skin, which gives the skin its elasticity. Some of them are rich in anthocyanin which is an age-defying antioxidant.

  1. Exercising

Exercise prevents ageing and gives the face a youthful appearance. When you work out, the muscles feel relaxed and so does the rest of your body. Research has proven that exercising reverses the ageing process. Exercise your body by jogging, skipping and stretching out.

So you don’t injure yourself, it is better to speak to an instructor to devise a workout plan that works for you. Exercise is not only for weight loss but also to remain healthy. This is something Nigerians should watch out for because sometimes you hear people say why is she going to the gym when she is slim? She could be going because she wants to feel good or to be loyal to a routine. In essence, if you want to reverse or slow down the ageing process, start consistent exercises.

  1. Facial and body routine

Always wash your face every time you return home. Dust particles and harsh weather negatively affect the skin. Washing your face regularly reduces wrinkles, pimples and ageing. Make sure you massage your face gently while washing to avoid scratch wounds. Take your bath every day and wash your body well.

Dirty skin can’t glow and body creams can’t work on it. Dirt causes acne and other skin diseases. Microorganisms like Staphylococcus aureus attack the skin and may lead to infectious diseases. Apply organic face and body oils or creams. There are homemade natural routines for the face and body. A mixture of honey and sugar can help to exfoliate the skin to rejuvenate and make it glow. You can use tomato on your face to keep it clear.

Spare a few minutes of your time for full concentration, and you’ll experience tremendous results. You can also choose to practice yoga as it helps you look younger.
