by Blessing Chinaza

One crucial thing that every business owner or brand that desires more growth, visibility, and revenue should have is a strong social media presence.

Having a strong social media presence allows you to get your products or services to the eyes of lots of people, and a good place to start this is on Facebook.

With over 27 billion users, Facebook has proven to be effective and efficient for business owners, as they can connect with their customers and gain more visibility for their brand.

The challenge most people have is how to get more eye’s to see their products or services on Facebook.

This is why, in this article, I will be showing you how to get followers on Facebook that will engage with what you do, love your brand and make you their go-to person when it relates to the business you are offering.

But there are certain things you should put in place before that.

What You Should do Before Sourcing for Followers on Facebook

  1. Facebook profile revamp

It is important as a business owner to give your profile a professional look that reflects the goals of your business or brand.

Here are 3 things you need to take note of on your Facebook profile;

Profile picture

Your profile picture is the first thing anyone sees when they visit your profile.

It will reflect how you expect people to perceive you.

If you want to make money on Facebook, then you have to take your Facebook profile seriously.

You can’t upload a low-quality selfie with lots of people in the background and expect to attract the right kind of audience.

It is advisable to upload a professional studio picture instead.

As a business owner, your profile picture might be all you need sometimes to get visible and connect with new clients and prospects.

✓Profile cover

This entails pictures or details of what you do.

A lot of business people make the mistake of using their spouses’ or family members’ pictures as a profile cover, but that is not what is required as a business owner.

As a business owner, your profile cover should have a professional picture of you, your brand, your business, or that thing you want to be known for.

In case you don’t know how to go about that, download canva, go to ‘Facebook cover photo template’, pick one and edit it to include the different services you offer.

You can make use of that or you can hire a graphic designer to give you a beautiful design.

Do not leave your audience to guess what you do. Your cover photo should tell them in detail what you do and how you can be of service.

✓Facebook bio

This is the section that informs your audience of who you are, what you do, and what you want to be known for.

This section is usually limited but can be utilized properly. Write what you do in your bio in an organized manner.

  1. Have an audience in mind

As a business owner, you wouldn’t want to have a million followers and get 5-10 likes on your post, right? That would be heartbreaking.

So have a target audience depending on the product or services you are offering.

Do you sell back-to-school items? Your target audience should be young mothers.

Do you sell wigs? Your target audience should be ladies from ages 18-40. Identify your target audience.

How to Get Followers on Facebook

Now that you’ve understood what you should do before sourcing for followers, here’s how to get followers consistently on Facebook as a business owner.

  1. Create high quality content

To attract followers as a business owner, you must create engaging and high-quality content around your products or the service you offer.

This content might be in the form of text, video, or animation that reflect what you do and is relatable to your audience.

One mistake most business owners make is to always post their products and price with the usual “patronize me” caption.

As amazing as that may sound, it is wrong and doesn’t make you look like a professional.

  1. Work with other pages or profile

There are lots of pages or profiles that have the kind of audience you desire.

Reach out to them in order to get your products to their audience.

This will expose your business to a new audience and help you get new followers on Facebook.

  1. Use paid advertising

As a business owner with a target, you may want to consider Facebook Advertising.

It’s one of the most effective ways to attract a wider audience and get new followers on your profile.

  1. Post consistently

If you want to get followers on Facebook, consistently posting high-quality and engaging content is key.

This will make your audience familiar with you and your brand.

Deadly Sins You Should Avoid to Get The Best Out of Facebook

1. Don’t share what you sell in anyone’s DM. Sharing what you sell on people’s DM is a No-No for all business owners.

Not only is it offensive, it is also unprofessional.

2. Do not tag anyone on posts or content that have nothing to do with them.

3. Do not go to the DM of someone you admire or respect to drop messages like “Hi, Hey, Hello”, etc.

Be detailed about why you are sending a message.

Create, connect, be consistent, and show up rightly. I am rooting for you.
